Discover Georgetown — Washington D.C.'s Most Captivating Neighborhood

Historic streets, waterfront views, world-class dining, and a neighborhood energy unlike anywhere else in the capital. Welcome to Georgetown — where every corner has a story, and every visit reveals something new.

Be A Part of History

Georgetown is one of Washington D.C.'s oldest, most beautiful, and most beloved neighborhoods — and one of its most rewarding to explore. Predating the capital itself, this historic riverside district blends Federal-era architecture with a vibrant modern energy. Whether you're here for the shopping, the history, the food, the waterfront, or simply the atmosphere — Georgetown delivers at every turn.

  • Georgetown Waterfront Park

Open, beautiful green space along the Potomac River — perfect for a morning run, an afternoon picnic, or a quiet moment on the labyrinth. In summer, kids love the water fountain. Year-round, the waterfront path offers some of the best walking and cycling in the city. One of Georgetown's most beloved and accessible outdoor spaces.

  • Paddle the Potomac

For those who want to get out on the water, Key Bridge Boathouse and Thompson's Boat Center are the places to go. Rent a kayak, canoe, or take a paddling lesson at two of Georgetown's most popular waterfront outfitters.

  • Ice Skating at Washington Harbour

Every winter, Washington Harbour is home to D.C.'s largest outdoor ice skating rink — open daily throughout the season, including the holidays. Glide along the Potomac waterfront, then warm up with a drink or meal at one of the rink-side restaurants. A quintessential Georgetown winter experience.

  • Cycling the C&O Canal Towpath & Capital Crescent Trail

Two of the most popular cycling and walking trails in the entire region start right here in Georgetown . The C&O Canal Towpath traces the Potomac River for 184.5 miles north to Cumberland, Maryland. The Capital Crescent Trail offers a scenic, car-free route through some of the area's most beautiful landscapes. With nearly 50 public bike racks, eight Capital Bikeshare stations, and a bike repair station on K/Water Street — Georgetown is built for two wheels.

  • Go Cruising on the Potomac

Georgetown is one of the few Washington D.C. neighborhoods accessible by water — and a Washington Monuments Cruise from the Georgetown Waterfront is one of the most relaxing and scenic ways to take in the city. Drift past the Jefferson Memorial , the Washington Monument , and beyond — a uniquely unhurried way to experience the capital. Water taxi and cruise options available year-round.

  • Yoga & Wellness in Georgetown

Find your center in one of Georgetown's welcoming yoga studios. Down Dog Yoga and CorePower Yoga both offer classes for all levels. For a free option, Patagonia Georgetown hosts complimentary yoga classes every Wednesday evening from 7:30–8:30 p.m. — just bring your mat.
